Balau, a tropical wood endowed with rich oils and minerals, it has a natural brilliance, as well as incredible resistance to decay and moisture. From Southeast Asia, balau's strength and weather-resistance make it perfect for use in outdoor furniture. Balau is very similar to teak but is said to be denser, strong, and more durable. It also has a warmer, deep honey hue. This wood should be cleaned and treated annually to retain the natural wood color. If left to weather on its own, balau will weather to grey patina. |
