| You can have the most beautiful patio set made of the most exotic, expensive wood, but to make it truly comfortable and inviting, you need plush, thick patio cushions. We like to spend hours lounging on our patio, having a nap, working on our tan, chatting, drinking and eating with our friends. Cushions make us want to stay in the deep oversized chairs or loungers for ever. Of course, our friends want to stay for ever, too, what is not always a good thing. Patio cushions for dining chairs and bar chairs are usually relatively thin, and have no-slip bottom, or are attached to a chair with strings. Patio cushions for deep armchairs, sofas and loungers are much thicker, plush and opulent. There are many types of foam used for patio cushions: soft or firm, or actually adaptable to different sized bottoms (famous ‘memory foam.’) Foam for patio cushions has to withstand sudden rains and stay dry, without getting soggy and moldy. There is a special type of foam that permits the water to pass through. When choosing your patio cushions, make sure that they are filled with special outdoor foam. Otherwise, you will run at the first sign of rain to save your precious cushions. The fabric for patio cushions also has to be suitable for outdoor use. Leave your fancy silk and brocade cushions indoors and look for cushion fabrics that durable, stain, water, mold and bacteria resistant. And don’t forget beautiful, of course. You will not have any problem finding that perfect fabric to cover your patio cushions. You will have problem deciding on only one, the choice is huge. Try not to go too crazy with wild patterns and colors, you will get tired of them quickly. Also, you do not want your patio cushions to compete with your flowers. Look for lively colors that work well with the color of your house, your umbrellas or the awning. Whatever color or pattern you decide on, try not to spend too much money on it, you will probably want to change it next year. |
