Teak Swings
So what is this Teak wood craze really all about and why should I want my new swing to be a teak swing? Well let's start with it's history. The Teak tree is scientifically classified as Tectona Grandis and is a member of the Verbenaceae family. So why is it so darn expensive? Very simply, the common life cycle of a Teak tree is approximately 50 to 60 years to complete its physical growth before it is harvested. So why is it so in demand? Teak is not only one of the most beautiful natural woods, but is noted for it's longevity and strong characteristics
like
cypress wood. It is virtually as maintenance free wood product you can find and it's natural oil composition make it resistant to nature's elements and insects. Very few woods come close to matching teak.
